Penelope Lowder

Ms. Lowder is a playwright, actress and novelist. She is a 2015 Fellow for the Community Literature Initiative, a 2017 Skylight Playwrights Lab Fellow. In 2017, her short play, The Third Day, was produced for Tony Abatemarco‚Äôs Alimento Program. Black Women State of The Union premiered her two short plays, The Follicle Prison War and 15 Minutes at The Skylight Theater in Los Feliz. In 2014, her first short film script, 4Closure, was produced by Hilldog Productions and Keep It Short Productions. In 2012, Ms. Lowder was a Cosby Screenwriting Fellow. NAACP selected her short play, The Follicle Prison War for its 2011 Short Playwriting competition. The Short Playwriting Festival in New York selected “Honest Sam” about an African war criminal that finally receives his comeuppance as a semi finalist in 2009. Her other works that have been performed in Los Angeles and New York are “Pushing Yellow”, “And So We Supped”, Reaching Autonomy. Currently, Ms. Lowder is the co-creator, writer and Executive Producer of a web series, Life On Pause, scheduled for release in December. In addition to her literary work, she has performed on the stage in London, New York and Los Angeles. Ms. Lowder is a graduate of the University of Southern California School of Theater and is a past member of the Audrey Skirball Kenis Playwrights Lab, Los Angeles Playwrights Center, Che’Rae Adams Playwright Workshop, and Robey Theater Playwrights Lab.
