Joe Ide is of Japanese American descent.  He was born in South Central LA and grew up with his three brothers who he describes as “feral hogs looking for their next meal.”  He read all  fifty-six Sherlock Holmes stories multiple times before he left middle school.  Joe  was a Hollywood screenwriter before he wrote his debut novel, IQ, which won  the Anthony, Macavity and Shamus awards and  was nominated for the Edgar, Barry and Strand Critics awards.  His latest book, The Goodbye Coast stars a contemporary Phillip Marlowe.  Dennis Lehane wrote, ” Joe Ide has chiseled off the rust while keeping the soul of one of American fiction’s icons”  Joe’s sixth IQ novel, Fixit will arrive in bookstores early next year.
